New Beginnings
Erased, Rewritten. Whatever you want to call it.
The Flash (2022) seeks to rewrite history. A way for Warner Brothers to try, and fix their mistakes with continuity, and actors leaving due to incompetence. Ben Affleck is out? Well let's bring back Michael Keaton. Let's be honest if Ben Affleck was still committed to the role, we would be getting a very different Flash movie. Nevertheless, Michael Keaton is back as the Caped Crusader. Let's break down what that actually means.
1. Timelines/Different Earth's
There are multiple timelines within the DCEU, and the Burtonverse. Barry must get to the Burtonverse on accident by trying to go back in time to save his mom. However instead he ends up traveling to the present day Burtonverse. When Barry tries returning home to the "DCEU's Earth" everything is different. No Ben Affleck. Somehow Barry merges these two Earth's into one. Thus creating a new timeline, and Earth. The events of Batman(1989), and Batman Returns (1992) never happened. Same with the DCEU, Zack's movies never happened. Technically. But not really.
There is a difference between a film being canon, and the events of a movie being erased. Make no mistake. You still need to watch Zack Snyder's DCEU films, and the Burtonverse movies. They are the stepping stones of this new universe. Even though there is a new future. That doesn't negate what happened prior. Ezra's story will always begin with that cameo in Batman v Superman (2016).
3. Batman's Rogues
What does this mean for Batman's villains, and the villains he's already faced? We have Jack Nicholson's Joker, and Jared Leto's Joker. WB might end up not using The Joker at all for the DCEU. They dont need him. Especially with Rumors of a new Joker popping up in The Batman (2022). Not to mention Margot Robbie has already appeared as Harley Quinn three times. WB really doesn't need to bring her back either.
